Optic fast connector, also known as a quick connector or field assembly connector, is a type of connector used in fiber optic networks to quickly and easily terminate optical fibers without the need for epoxy or polishing. It allows for fast and reliable fiber optic connections in various applications, such as telecommunications, data centers, and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) installations.
Optic fast connectors typically consist of a pre-polished ferrule, a mechanical splice, and a connector body. The pre-polished ferrule contains a small index-matching gel or adhesive that helps align and secure the fibers when inserted into the connector body. The mechanical splice ensures a reliable connection by aligning and holding the fiber cores together, while the connector body provides stability and protection.
1. Low insertion loss
2. High return loss (low amounts of reflection at the interface)
3. Ease of installation
4. Low cost
5. Reliability
6. Low environmental sensitivity
7. Ease of use
