Tray-type PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) splitters are optical splitters used in passive optical networks (PONs) to split a single optical signal into multiple output signals without requiring any power input. As the name suggests, tray-type splitters are typically installed in a tray or chassis that can hold multiple splitters or other fiber optic components. These splitters use a planar waveguide circuit to distribute the optical signal evenly across the output ports, ensuring minimal signal loss and uniform power splitting. The tray-type design of these splitters makes them easy to install, maintain and manage in an organized manner. Tray-type PLC splitters are ideal for high-density fiber optic applications where space conservation is critical, such as in data centers, enterprise networks, and telecommunications facilities. These splitters are available in a range of configurations, including 1x2, 1x4, 1x8, 1x16, 1x32, and 1x64, to meet various network requirements.
