Bunchy fan-out patch cord, also known as a breakout patch cord or fan-out cable, is a type of optical patch cord that is designed to break out into multiple individual fibers at one end, while still having a single connector at the other end.
The fan-out portion of the cable starts as a single cable, typically with a tight buffer or a reinforced jacket, and then branches out into multiple individual fibers, each with its own protective jacket. These individual fibers can be color-coded for easy identification.
The single connector end of the bunchy fan-out patch cord is typically terminated with a connector such as SC, LC, ST, or FC, depending on the specific application and network equipment. This end is connected to the network equipment, while the fan-out end is used to connect to individual devices or connectors.
